Denise Heywood BA (Hons)  RMS  SBA

I have painted all my life , but initially trained in textile design; after completing my degree I worked for many years as a freelance illustrator  for major publishing companies in the field of fine art prints and greeting cards.  I was elected a full member  of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers in 2009 and exhibit annually with the society at the Mall Galleries, London.  I have exhibited at Llewellyn Alexander ( Fine Paintings) Ltd, London for several years, winning the Llewellyn Alexander Masters Award for the most outstanding set of 6 Miniature Paintings of fruit and china at an exhibition of 800 paintings. I exhibit in America with The Miniature Art Society of Florida. In 2013 I submitted paintings for the first time to the Society of Botanical Artists annual exhibition, and in 2014 was elected an Associate Member.
Nature has always been my inspiration . I like to paint plants which grow in my garden and the surrounding countryside, often combining these in a still life study with antique china. The jewels of redcurrants glow against a dark background;  in an old family vase is an iceberg rose that climbs against the wall of my house…
I paint in watercolour on paper or vellum, sometimes using a little bodycolour.
