Claire Russell is an international award-winning artist and bespoke picture framer based in Gloucestershire, specialising in frame restoration and gilding. Claire developed her gilding skill using several glass based applications including vases and glass dishes, eventually exploring the ancient technique of Verre Églomisé.
Claire has always loved drawing and won several art competitions at school. She continued her art education with a Foundation Diploma in Art and Design and graduated from Gloucestershire University with a BA in Design and Technology.
Having grown up in and around rural Gloucestershire, Claire finds inspiration from the natural world, in particular, insects, birds and reptiles, which can be seen in all her artwork.
Claire’s artwork has featured in several editions of Artist and Illustrators magazine which led to her appearance on a Channel 4 production of ‘Kirstie’s Handmade Christmas’ where she created a large Verre Églomisé piece, ‘Angel of the Stars’.
