Dominic Fondé
Dominic Fondé is a British glass blower and engraver, based in Kobe, Japan. He has over twenty years’ experience as a professional artist and is a
Fellow of the Guild of Glass Engravers in the United Kingdom, a full member of the Royal Society of Miniature Painters, Sculptors and Gravers and a member of the Hilliard Society of Miniature Artists.
Dominic has exhibited his art in London, New York, Oisterwijk (the Netherlands), Singapore, Taipei, Tokyo and Venice. In Britain, (where he started his career, with a Masters in Design from Edinburgh College of Art) his work is in the collections of the Victoria and Albert Museum, the Royal Museum of Scotland, Stourbridge Glass Museum and The World of Glass (St. Helen’s) plus in Australia, New York and Singapore. In 2022 his work was selected for inclusion in the Coburg Prize for Contemporary Glass 2022.
Dominic’s work frequently includes images of birds and nature. He also writes short stories on glass; exploring the emotional weight that glass objects exert on our lives, as containers for memories and emotions. His most recent works have been a series of miniature portraits of people wearing facemarks, stipple engraved onto the lens of magnifying glasses. These works are a direct response to the years of the covid 19 pandemic.
Dominic creates work for sale / commission and for exhibition. He is highly respected by his peers; having curated glass and engraving shows and invited to demonstrate engraving at special events.
