Born in 1969 in Berkshire, I studied Photography and Graphic Design from an early age and have a BA Hons degree in Graphic Design from the London College of Printing. This included life drawing, animation, photography and illustration where I started to create relief sculptures, photograph them and introduce typography to create my final designs. With a portfolio full of 3D work, and after 3 years in book publishing, I applied for a job as a trainee modelmaker on the James Bond film ‘Goldeneye’ in 1994. I have been working in Special Effects & Prop Making for Film and TV ever since.

After the birth of my son, I took a short break from Film work. I started sculpting cameos as a hobby, experimenting with scales and colours then found that I really enjoyed creating miniatures! The pieces got larger in size and became more than cameos; miniature worlds and ideas. Over time, I introduced metals, gemstones and various metal leaf then registered my Silversmith hallmark. I sculpt in plastiline wax then mould, cast and paint plus make all of my own bezels, then frames. I have my own workshop and l will soon be experimenting with enamels. I find the scale and creative possibilities of miniature art both interesting and exciting. With most of the facial sculpts the size of a thumbnail, the challenge continues and I always have a sketchbook!

In 2021, I decided to submit 5 miniatures to the RMS exhibition…just to see what would happen! To my surprise, they were accepted and I also won the award for ‘Innovation’. Since then, I have been honored to have had work accepted in 3 exhibitions with the RMS and have also won Gold & Silver Goldsmiths’ Awards with associated exhibitions in London & Birmingham.
