Born in London in 1955, I am a Goldsmith and Silversmith by trade and have a lifelong interest in wildlife. I have also practised the art of falconry and from my appreciation of a bird in flight I have produced sculptures in solid bronze and solid silver. I have also produced many other commissioned sculptures ranging from animals, birds, and fish to human figures & boats for clients during the past 30 years.
For the past ten years I have been exhibiting my sculptures in various Miniature Art Society Shows & Art Galleries that have enabled my sculptures to be showcased and enjoyed all over the world.
My sculpture falls into the category of ‘miniature’ although I produce larger sculpture when asked by clients but never more than 14” in height. I carve my miniatures in wax which enables me to get the finest detail which I see as a characteristic of my work. The original wax is cast using the ‘lost wax’ process. Once it has been cast in solid bronze, I hand finish it by filing and engraving any detail lost in the casting process and using a chemical process to start the natural patination of the bronze. I finish my sculptures by highlight polishing to achieve lasting contrast in colour to the natural metal.
I continue to explore the bounds of using Bronze and Silver as a medium to achieve the delicate elements of my sculpture. I am constantly inspired by the natural world around us and continue to find subjects that I can portray in my work.
