Born 1953 Surrey. I took a degree course in Graphic Design in the early 1970s but painting and drawing was my first love and after leaving Art College immediately found an agent and started my career as an illustrator working for design groups and advertising agencies in London. This was my life for some twenty years until I discovered woodcarving. I then began exploring 3D illustration using carved wood with some success but the times were changing and computers, with their ability to manipulate images easily, were now becoming widespread.

By now I was concentrating on carved wood and was fortunate enough to begin a great working relationship over several years with the American Hardwood Export Council in London producing carved pieces and later scale wooden models for their trade shows and general promotion. I was also commissioned to create bespoke wooden trophies for many companies. A visit to the Royal Miniature Society Exhibition ( I was working on a much smaller scale by now! ) also rekindled my love of painting which had been largely neglected for some years.

As Art today is so diverse and at times difficult to comprehend, I think you have to find something you are comfortable with and enjoy doing . In miniature Art I have found just that.

It was an honour to be elected President of The Royal Miniature Society in 2020
